Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Sheru application, the sheru.app website, and related services (together, the "Service"), provided by TypeSafe Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong (Company No. 78033417) ("TypeSafe", "we", "us"). By purchasing, downloading, or using Sheru, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The license you are buying#

Sheru is sold as a one-time, perpetual license — there is no subscription. Each license is sold for a fixed number of devices (the tier you purchase, e.g. Solo, Duo, or Family) and entitles you to:

• install and use Sheru on up to the number of devices included in your tier;
• receive updates released for the major version you purchased.

The license is granted to you personally (or, for a business purchase, to the purchasing entity) and is non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable only as described in these Terms.

2. What you may not do#

You may not, and may not permit anyone else to:

• resell, sublicense, rent, or redistribute the Service or your license key;
• exceed the device count included in your tier, or share license keys publicly;
• reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
• remove or alter any proprietary notices, or use the Service to build a substantially similar competing product.

Sheru includes an extension and theme system. Content you create with it remains yours; these Terms do not grant us ownership of your themes, extensions, or files.

3. Payments, taxes, and the merchant of record#

Purchases are processed by our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy (operated by Link, LLC, formerly Lemon Squeezy LLC), which acts as the Merchant of Record for your order. This means Lemon Squeezy handles the transaction, billing, and collection of any applicable sales tax or VAT, and their checkout terms apply to the payment itself in addition to these Terms. Prices are shown at checkout and may change for future purchases.

4. Refunds#

We want you to be happy with Sheru. The following refund policy forms part of these Terms.

14-day money-back guarantee. If Sheru isn't right for you, you may request a full refund within 14 days of your purchase — no need to explain why. Because Sheru is a digital product delivered instantly, this window is our equivalent of a return period.

How to request. Email contact@typesafe.tech from the address you used to purchase, and include your order number or the Lemon Squeezy email receipt. We aim to reply within 2 business days. Approved refunds are issued to your original payment method by Lemon Squeezy; depending on your bank or card issuer, it can take a further 5–10 business days for the funds to appear.

When a refund may not apply. We may decline a refund where the request is made more than 14 days after purchase; where there is evidence of abuse, such as repeated buy-and-refund cycles or sharing or redistributing license keys in breach of these Terms; or where the purchase was made through an unauthorized reseller rather than our official checkout. If you hit a technical problem within the 14-day window, contact us first — we'll usually be able to fix it, and you remain eligible for a refund if we can't.

Chargebacks. If something looks wrong with a charge, please contact us before opening a chargeback with your bank. We can almost always resolve billing issues faster directly, and it keeps your license in good standing.

5. Intellectual property#

The Service, including its software, design, trademarks, and documentation, is owned by TypeSafe and protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the license expressly granted in Section 1, no rights are transferred to you.

6. Disclaimer of warranties#

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your specific requirements. You are responsible for maintaining backups of your data.

7. Limitation of liability#

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TypeSafe will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid for your license in the twelve months preceding the claim.

8. Termination#

We may suspend or terminate your license if you materially breach these Terms (for example, by redistributing license keys). On termination you must stop using the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will survive.

9. Changes to these Terms#

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Governing law#

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Hong Kong will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms.
